On December 12, 2022, we appealed the University of Sydney’s denial of our request for documents of Prof. Edward Holmes about the scientific work for an influential paper he co-authored, “The proximal origin of SARS-CoV-2”.

“Nearly all of the world’s population has been impacted by Covid-19. We individually and collectively have a right to know where it came from, and whether there was any scientific misconduct involved in explaining its origins,” the letter states. See our letter to the University of Sydney here.

The university denied our appeal on January 18. See Gary Ruskin’s tweet thread.

For more information about the details surrounding the “proximal origins” paper, one of the most influential scientific articles in history, see this timeline by Emily Kopp.
